Kids Themed Party Ideas

Boys Parties:

Have a Ball of a Time
This is a great Summer Birthday idea; it can be done in your own backyard. Send out homemade invitations saying “Roll on over to our house where we’ll have a ball of a time”. Maybe print it out onto a sports ball printer paper. Let the children have free play for an hour, with a yard full of balls, soccer balls, baseballs, and bouncy balls, put up a net, have some bubbles out. Then have cake, the shape of a ball or their favorite sport type cake. You can have a piñata shaped as a ball of choice and then for goodie bags they get a baggie of candy from the piñata and a big bouncy ball. Voila a very fun party with very little effort.

Finding your Past

Finding Your Past

There is something to be said for a bit of nostalgia. You might be cleaning out and find old love notes or the CD you burned for your now ex-girlfriend. A song comes on the radio and you find yourself singing along. Fashions you thought had come and gone are back again and you just can’t decide if you want to give them a second try. After all, the first round of the eighties wasn’t too great for you style wise.

On a rainy afternoon, when you just happen to be thinking about your old self, you might try bringing back of those few old memories just for the simple amusement of it. Certain television shows even specialize in creating shows about the 70s, 80s or 90s. You can make your own mini-show right over your computer.

Finding Your Past

Your past is all over the internet. You can look it up through the white pages or do a more complex people search to see what happened to all your old buddies. MySpace actually has divided people into high schools and colleges which means you can spend hours reading about your ex girlfriend or crush without feeling like too much of a stalker. When you get bored with that, you can go back and relive even earlier memories.

Christmas Gifts for Unders 3’s

What’s the best gift for a young child? What presents would be suitable for 1 year old boy? What’s suitable for a 3 year old girl? These questions are so common coming up to christmas time, and many people can be ill advised. Shopping for young children’s gifts can be very hard, but if you follow the advice below you should have no problems selecting a suitable gift.

Newborn Babies – One Year Old Children

Newborn babies are fascinated by color, movement, shapes and sound. Children under the age of one don’t really “play” in the way that older children do, as they have poor coordination and they have not yet learned how to pretend. Gifts for kids age 12 months or under should stimulate the senses of sight, hearing and touch. Newborn babies and children 1 or below lack the coordination to “play” like older children do. What excites them is visual, audible, texture sensation. Gifts for this age range should be colourful, produce sounds, and have many different textures to stimulate the young child. Consider that young children put everything they can into there mouths, cardboard books are not really suitable for this saliva attack. Toys should be easy to wipe clean, not too heavy. But most importantly make sure they cant trap the fingers anywhere if the item has moving parts. Some well received gifts for this age range include plastic books that produce sounds, stuffed animals/teddies, items with different colour/textured fabrics attached, and activity center mats and stations.

Children Have All Kinds Of Gifts

Are you aware that your child may  be gifted? Our children are each such a heady mix of individual personalities, ideas, talents, emotions and creativity that their gifts aren’t always obvious.  Amidst the mayhem of child upbringing, the rush to daycare, preparation of meals, sibling rivalry, fights over toys or the television, these gifts may not be so obvious.  So, here are a few signs and symptoms to help you identify your child’s individual gifts.

The leader :  Outgoing personality, enjoys and often takes the lead, from school projects to class discussions.  Always has done, ever since they were in kindergarten and took it upon themselves to reorganize the other children, the lego playsets or the Barbie doll house, when they were three.

The Thinker – Great ideas, but shy personality, so does not take the lead in projects, and then starts to pout when they see their idea was a lot better than everyone else’s,and they should have spoken up.

The Entrepreneur – Does not like homework unless it involves something that excites them, captures their imagination and gives them a chance to be innovative and share ideas.  Has already figured out how  the school could be run better and actually make a profit.  Started a scheme to buy toys or sweets to sell to his classmates and reinvesting his profits.

A Different Approach to Teaching Kids

Kids of different ages learn by different methods. For example, a toddler that has just turned two might enjoy finger painting, while an 8 year old girl will enjoy playing with her dolls. While various age groups learn by using different material, one thing is true for all age groups: Kids learn best with toys.

The argument on how best to teach kids with toys remains an ongoing debate. Some say that you should just purchase loads of toys for your child and let them play as they please. Others say you should only purchase toys that improve your child’s skills that are necessary for development and make sure they play in a supervised environment.

At a young age, children do not like learning by sitting in a classroom and listening to a lecture. They want to be able to build things, make their own worlds, and imagine things that can never come true. Thus is the power of toys. If you buy them a set of LEGOS or building blocks, they will be able to construct their own world and learn a few things along the way. Building things with blocks and LEGOS not only teach your child colors and balance, they also teach him/her spatial reasoning. Teaching kids with toys can also include video games. No, I’m not talking about Pokemon games or the like, I’m talking about games that include educational opportunities for your child. Such a game may include putting puzzles together, adding groups of things, or recognizing patterns. These games are great because you know they are safe for your children, and you know that your children are getting the most out of them.

Appropriate Fun for Children

As a parent you have many things to worry about. What to feed your child for breakfast, what school to send him/her to, or what kids he/she should hang out with. Another important issue to think about is what toys are suitable for your child. If your child is a newborn (age 0-2) then the toys you let your child play with are important. You must make sure the toys you buy for your young child are safe. What does this mean? It means they should be large to avoid choking hazards, and they should be free of lead since babies have a habit of putting toys in their mouths.

For toddlers, you don’t have to worry about choking hazards as much as babies, but it should still be in the back of your mind when you are purchasing toys. For toddlers, try to get toys that come in various shapes and sizes (blocks are a good example). Make sure the toys come in various colors too, which aids in color recognition for your developing child. Don’t focus on getting toys that require too much hand eye coordination just yet, as your toddler probably won’t possess enough skill to play with the toy anyways.
